About Me

I initially chose to study statistics and data science due to the flexibility it offered for career paths and areas of study. With an ever increasing amount of data being collected and stored, everywhere from healthcare to manufacturing would need someone to analyze it for them. As I was concluding my undergraduate career, I regained my interest in medicine and biology and realized I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. After comparing the different paths available and much consideration with friends, family, physicians, and physician assistants, I finally decided going to medical school would be the best fit for me and my aims. I enrolled at the University at Buffalo to round out my course work and take the remaining classes required to apply and took the MCAT. At the same time, I also began working at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in the lab of Dr. Jason Muhitch as a Research Data Analyst. During this time I have learned a number of computational and wet lab skills including differential gene expression analysis, gene set enrichment analysis, application of dimensionality reduction algorithms like tSNE or UMAP, processing fresh human tumor samples to single cell suspension, and cell staining and data acquisition for Flow Cytometry. I’m looking forward to applying in the 2024 application cycle and cannot wait to see what lies ahead.
